Yarn Along I

The last few weeks I've been enjoying Sarah's Yarn Alongs and I followed her link to Ginny's website, where I enjoyed some more. Since I just started knitting last month I thought I'd join in the fun. What one is supposed to do is post a picture of a current knitting project and a current read. So ... above is my first ever scarf! I know knit now, so as soon as I learn how to finish this scarf (what's that called? binding off?), I can start learning purl. I also started reading a new-to-me author this week -- Wendell Berry -- and am really enjoying Hannah Coulter.

  1. Nice scarf, Michelle! It looks great =) Have you run across knittinghelp.com yet? It is a great Web site (with videos) to learn various stitches and other things, like binding off.

  2. Wendell Berry is an excellent writer - I love his stuff too.

Binding off is in my near future too - and so I went to knittinghelp.com for a refresher. I may just have to cast-on something else instead to avoid the completion. Ha, ha.

    Have a great weekend. Cheers~

  3. You are so domestic...I can't knit or crochet...all of my momentary changes of thought, heart, or interest are transferred into the stitches. It makes for a pretty strange looking scarf, Imagine that! So I am glad that you are pursuing knitting "for us." I will knit vicariously through you. Tee hee hee.

Have a good weekend... Say, are you murdering your own turkey? I can almost imagine it...

Your other half holding Tom Turkey upside down by the feet...
    the Boy wielding an ax.
Miss Rose and Miss Sunshine covered in feathers ...
And maybe a couple before and after pictures of the Baby posing with the big gobbler... "Before" with her arm around the turkey in the yard and "After" Smiling in front of a beautifully presented plate of mashed potatoes, corn, cranberry sauce, a gently toasted marshmallow draped acrossed sweet potato slices, green bean casserole with a giant glistening drumstick in her tiny little hand...

Perhaps everyone could wear traditional pilgrim costumes. Then, you could include a photo of a book you have been reading... Priscilla Mullins of Plimouth Plantation's "Prissy Cooks: Delightful Recipes from the Mayflower and all Points West."

I can't wait for those "Wordless Wednesday" Pictures.

Don't tell me, let me guess... You are just doing a butterball.

Love you and wish we could do coffee... but even if you were here this weekend you wouldn't have time, Its Folk Festival. :)
